Volunteer at Stone Soup

Stone Soup seeks volunteers and interns in a variety of areas. Payment can range from school credit to stipend to hourly depending upon the candidate and position. If you are interested, please email your resume to: internships@stonseouptheatre.com or call 206-633-1883 to set up an interview.

Assistant Directors

For our Youth Summer Program which is in three Seattle outdoor park locations. Assistant Directors will work Youth ages 5-19 to perform 30 minute adaptations of Shakespeare, Musicals, and The Hobbit, etc. We need students who love kids and theatre. Duties include assisting the directors in the creation of live theatre pieces, supervising and encouraging young performers, organization of scripts and charts for attendance, coordination of props and costumes. Applicant must have energy, patience and a sense of humor.

Costume

Interns will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of costuming a production from concept to performance. This internship will provide practical work experience in the day to day operation of the costume department. Applicants should have some design experience and able to work collaboratively with directors to build, design and coordinate all costumes for live theatre events.

Lighting and Sound

This internship will focus on all aspects of lighting and sound for Stone Soup Theatre 4 Main stage shows. The intern will work closely with Lighting Designer, assisting to hang, circuit, and focus lighting instruments, and program the light board. In addition, the intern will work with the sound engineer as an assistant.

Marketing Intern

The Marketing intern will assist in all aspects of communication with the media, Audience, generating story ideas, drafting news releases, creating displays, handling mailings, updating mailing lists, maintaining publicity files and developing creative, low cost plans to reach new audiences. Depending on the intern’s interests and aptitudes, he/she may also be given lead responsibilities for a short term campaign or project. Applicant must have experience with computer graphics and MS Outlook.

Audience Services/Box Office

The Audience Services intern will assist in all aspects of Front of House Operations, assisting with mailings, and publicity tracking. Job duties will also include: Processing ticket orders, executing sales reports, managing front of house, coordination of volunteers. Must be detailed oriented with customer service, phone skills and basic math aptitude skills. Position would occur nights and weekends hours, as opposed to daytime hours.
