Summer Programs

Stone Soup's Summer Camps will be taking place in two parks from June 23 through August 22. Below is some important information about the camps. Here are some links you may find helpful:

When?
June 23-August 22, Monday-Friday 9am-12pm & 9am-2pm (9am-12pm 5-7 yrs only)

Where?
Wallingford Location - The gazebo in Meridian Park (part of the Good Shepherd Center located at 4649 Sunnyside)
Seward Park Location - Follow Lake Washington Blvd (south of Leschi) Enter park and go to the amphitheater near picnic area number 5.

How much is tuition?
$235/week for full day. $150/week for half-day (ages 5-7 only.) Tuition for all camps must be paid in full by June 23rd. Prices include registration.

How do I register?
Click here to register online now with a credit card. Within one week you will receive a phone call confirming registration. One week before camp, you will receive an email with more detailed information.

Cancellation Policies
If you cancel your registration two weeks before the class begins, we will refund 50% of total tuition paid. If you cancel less than two weeks prior to class, no refund or credit will be given.

No refunds on Aftercare once camps have begun (June 23rd)

How large is each camp?
Class size for all groups is limited to 20 students

Does my child need to be a performer to participate?
Absolutely not. Willingness, energy and desire are what is needed.

Ask about half scholarships for families in need.

When should I be there?
An adult will be resent by 8:45 each morning.

What about lunch?
Students need to bring a snack, a substantial lunch, and plenty of water. Sunglasses and sun screen are always good, too!

Safety?
There will be two adults overseeing each camp. 5-8 yr-olds are accompanied to the bathroom by one of the adults.

Does Stone Soup have extended care?
Yes, at the wallingford Location only, next door at the Meridian School. Cost is $55.00 for AM or PM. $90 for both. Contact Doug Coppinger at dcoppinger@meridianschool.edu or call (206)632-7154 for application. They will process your registration. Processing requires one week!! No exceptions!!

Stone Soup Policies?
A 50% deposit will hold your spot in the camp. Tuition due must be paid in full anytime between registration and June 23rd. A $30.00 service charge will be attached to any checks returned by the bank.

Important Information

Half-day camps are improvisational and do not require reading ability.
Full-day camps DO require reading skills and memorization of 30 min. scripts.
It is better to select a camp according to reading level and maturity rather than actual age.

Dr. Seuss' Storyland (Ages 5-7)

"Green Eggs & Ham" and "The Cat in the Hat" will be brought to life for the stage using improvisational games, storytelling, movement, and music. How fun!

Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe (Ages 5-7)

Stone Soup's little ones improvise their way to the land of Narnia and discover their own mystical land hidden inside the wardrobe. The evil white witch will be replaced by it's rightful king.

Roger the Jolly Pirate (Ages 5-7)

Who ever heard of a jolly pirate who does everything with a smile? Let’s go on an adventure of the seas and see how pirate’s growls become smiles. Action Galore!!

Tikki Tikki Tembo (Musical) (Ages 5-7)

Many years ago in China it was tradition to give sons long and honorable names. Tikki Tikki Tembo No So Rembo la NaNoo Na Kana Ran Tambo falls into the well. His brother tries to rescue him. Will Tikki be saved in time? With music all kids can enjoy, let's find out! Perfect for the younger child who enjoys singing.

Dr. Seuss' Storyland (Ages 6-9)

Perform an original script that will take you on a journey through the super-silly fantastical world Dr. Suess created using his favorite characters and stories.

Will perform a 25 minute script (with songs) as the mystical land hidden in the wardrobe comes to life!

This ensemble based play tells the exciting and surprising quest of Bilbo Baggins as he meets strange and mysterious characters on his journey. Elves, Trolls, Wargs, and a fiery tempered dragon are a part of this grand story telling drama.

A Comedy of Errors

In Shakespeare’s comedy two sets of identical twins separated at birth find themselves in the same city at the same time and madcap hilarity ensues. Misunderstandings are pushed to the very brink of anarchy before being happily resolved. Great roles, and tons of slapstick fun!

A Midsummer Night's Dream

A summer in the park wouldn’t be the same without the magic of “Puck,” loves torn apart, and the hilarious philandering of the “rude mechanicals” who performs (so very badly) for the kings’ wedding party. Join us and keep the magic alive.

Beauty and the Beast (with music)

Join us in the 18th Century for a musical retelling of the classic French tale. Our heroine Belle sacrifices her freedom for her aging fathers’, falls under a Beast’s romantic spell and eventually discovers her own true love! A simple music score for both the singer and the non-singer.

Fractured Fairy Tales

Helga and Olga Grime claim that they, not their brothers, are the true fairy tale writers. They say their brothers changed the ending, and now they want to show the world the true fairy tales, as they were supposed to be. So, they hired a rag tag group of actors, and this is the result. Hansel and Gretel are FBI agents, a kiss obsessed frog and a strange woman named Lulu won’t stop ruining the show.

Come to ancient Greece where the Gods and Goddesses walk among not so smart giants, gossipy nymphs and impulsive kings. Using a traditional Greek chorus to tell some well-known and some not so well known myths, this play will delight, amuse and enlighten everyone.

When the Swashbuckle parents are kidnapped by the Pirate Queen, the Swashbuckle Sisters and their brother, Rusty, must rescue them. They end up in another century and enlist the help of the Melt family. Sword fights, a hip hop dance and lots of crazy, quirky characters help and hinder the Sisters search for the Pirate Queen’s sword; the only thing that can save their parents.
