Welcome to Stone Soup Theatre and thank you for considering our acting program. Stone Soup understands just how precious young people are. Therefore, we commit ourselves to giving students the energy, nurturing and discipline necessary to help them become the best they can be both as artists and people. Youth theatre is not only fun and exciting but teaches valuable verbal, motor and relational skills. We at Stone Soup Theatre are dedicated to providing students a unique opportunity to participate in theatre that is inspirational, energetic and truthful.

"A chance to dream - that is the idea, and that is the poetic notion - to dream about that which exists besides that which there is...Acting is the simple testimony that we can be better than who we are."

Rehearsal and Performance Workshop

This year we have two opportunities for students to perform. Those who audition for "Beauty and the Beast" who are not cast, can be cast in our secondary Workshop which rehearses Tuesdays 4-6 pm and cullumnates in two performances.

"Beauty and the Beast"

Adapted by: Bret Fetzer

Ages: 8–20

Tuition: $450

Times: Fri 4–7pm & Sat 10–1pm.

Performances: June 13th–22nd.

The classic fairy tale of 'Beauty & the Beast' gets a vibrant comic remix from Seattle playwright (and fairy tale writer) Bret Fetzer. A lovely young girl named Rose goes to live with a hideous, ill-tempered Beast to save her father's life -- but in addition to the traditional elements of magical servants and unlikely romance are a talking horse, obnoxious sisters, and cross-gendered puppet shows. The familiar story takes unexpected twists and turns that will delight children and parents alike.

Audition by Appointment Only. Students must prepare a short monologue. Those not cast in the main production will have the opportunity to instead enroll in the Tuesday workshop (see below).

Audition Times:

April 7th, 13th & 14th.

Ages: 8–13

Tuition: $190

Times: Tuesdays 4–6pm

Performances: To Be Announced

A simpler version of the same show, modified to better suit younger or more inexperienced actors. Rehearsing only one day a week and ending in two performances, this workshop is perfect for those who are not suited to the full production. Those who are not cast in the main production will have the opportunity to enroll in this workshop instead.
