Classes for BeginnersBasic Acting SkillsTuition: $250 Times: Saturdays 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Basic Skills I provides a gentle, supportive introduction for the VERY beginning acting student or professional people such as teachers, lawyers and public speakers. Through the use of the Alexander Technique, actors learn to identify physical habits and patterns of movement that interfere with the fullest use of self. Improve your coordination, ease and self-confidence. Scene Study ITuition: $420 Times: Tuesdays 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. Culminating in a presentation of scenes, a beginning scene study class exposes a student to a myriad of new experiences. We will teach you how to sift this information into practical acting skill. You will learn to trust and act on your instincts, and those of an acting partner, get in touch with the thrill and energy that comes from creating moment to moment truth, and learn to search for a character’s objective. Rehearsal time outside class is required. Audition / MonologueTuition: $420 Times: Sundays 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tune up your monologues and stand out from the rest. "Mock auditions" are staged to teach students what to expect from an actual audition. Students will have help selecting two contrasting monologues which will best accentuate their skills. We will teach you how to stage your monologues from the moment you enter your audition and give advice on resumes and pictures. Improvisation:- Viola Spolin Technique - Tuition: $285 Times: Mondays 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. 6 weeks This workshop will explore the Spolin approach to improvising and games for rehearsal and performance. This is valuable training for improvisers trained in other methods and will give you fantastic new techniques to heighten your focus, create vivid environments onstage, deepen your relationship with your fellow players and make you more spontaneous. Continuing StudentsScene Study IITuition: $420 Times: Wednesdays 6.30 - 10:30 p.m. (Sep 13th - Nov 14th) For students who have completed two parts of Scene Study I and have felt the confidence of bringing a two-person scene to life. This class rocks the boat a little as you learn to interact with 3-6 student actors in a one-act play or short theatre piece. Further study of Stanislavski's nine questions and the development of beats takes on a new meaning when challenged by the circumstances of multiple characters. Performances November 14th and 15th. Scene Study IIITuition: $420 Times: Fridays 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. For students who have completed Scene Study I and II. Students will gain comfort in rehearsing scenes utilizing heightened language skills with theatrical authors such as Shakespeare, Chekhov and the Greeks. Challenge yourself! (Taught by Maureen Miko) Directing: The BasicsTuition: $385 Times: Mondays 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. In this enjoyable class you will discover the theatrical toolbox that directors use to bring a script to life on stage. Find out how to read a script and analyze it for the stage, learn how actors work and how to guide them as they create a role, create dynamic stage pictures, and discover how you, as a director, would collaborate with a designer to make the perfect setting for your play. Class will feature several sessions using experienced gust actors and is taught by a Seattle director. |
